Sweden public transport: Service cuts and delays reported in Stockholm and Skåne
Public transportation users in Sweden are expressing significant dissatisfaction with service quality and reliability in both the Stockholm and Skåne regions.
In Stockholm, new SL schedules effective August 17 have failed to restore previously reduced bus frequencies for lines 53, 55, and 402. Residents in areas such as Henriksdalsberget and Finnberget face continued service gaps, with some lines maintaining 20 to 30-minute intervals. Additionally, scheduling issues have resulted in multiple buses, such as lines 53 and 55, departing almost simultaneously, creating long wait times for subsequent services.
In the Skåne region, commuters are reporting frequent train cancellations, delays, and rerouting. Critics have questioned the operational planning and political accountability of Skånetrafiken and the Regional Council, specifically citing instances where specific departures are canceled well in advance due to alleged technical or staffing issues. Commuters have expressed concern that these disruptions jeopardize their ability to maintain employment.
