Sweden reduces preschool and after‑school fees from July 2026

Effective 1 July 2026, all Swedish households will receive a 10,000 SEK monthly tax credit that is deducted from taxable income before the preschool and after‑school care fee is calculated. The credit lowers the max‑tax income ceiling from 61,560 SEK to 51,560 SEK per month, resulting in lower fees for every family. Households with a monthly income of 10,000 SEK or less will pay no fee at all. Exact fee levels will be set on 1 July, and the new amounts will appear on the August bill. Parents must update their income information in the e‑service if it has changed during the year.
