Sweden school machete attack investigation focuses on TikTok content

An 18-year-old former student is in custody following a machete attack at Brinellskolan in Fagersta, Sweden, on Friday, August 21. The attack resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl and injuries to three boys, two of whom are reported to be in serious condition.

Police are investigating a TikTok account linked to the suspect, which posted an image of a machete just 25 minutes before emergency services received calls regarding the ongoing violence. Investigators noted that the account contained content referencing previous mass killings and school attacks, including the 2015 Trollhättan machete attack and the actions of Anders Behring Breivik. Authorities are also examining whether the suspect was influenced by online communities that glorify school attacks and mass violence.
