Sweden sees largest military conscription intake in 20 years

The Swedish Armed Forces are experiencing significant growth, with the current intake of conscripts marking the largest cohort in 20 years. The most substantial increase is occurring at the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment (Amf 1) in Haninge, south of Stockholm.

At the regiment, the number of conscripts has risen by 148 compared to last year's 410. New recruits undergo a ten-month training program to become amphibious soldiers, involving physical conditioning and specialized military instruction. While the expansion is a key part of Sweden's military buildup, officials noted that infrastructure and space limitations currently pose challenges to accommodating the increased numbers.
