Sweden sees rise in dangerous ‘zombie drug’ alfa-PVP

The synthetic drug alfa-PVP, often referred to as the ‘zombie drug’ due to its ability to cause aggressive, unpredictable, and psychotic behavior, is seeing a significant increase in Sweden. Authorities have noted a sharp rise in seizures, growing from 30 in the previous year to 105 so far this year.

Police reports indicate that the drug's presence is currently concentrated in two main areas: Uppsala and Norrköping. In Uppsala, local police have observed an increase in individuals suspected of being under the influence of the substance, noting unusual aggression among users. The National Operations Department (NOA) has been monitoring the situation, noting that the trend follows a similar pattern to previous drug establishments in the region.
