Sweden tests Taurus cruise missile from Gripen fighter jet

Sweden has successfully conducted the first test launch of the Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missile from a Saab JAS 39C Gripen fighter jet. The test took place at the Vidsel Test Range in Norrbotten during military exercises.

The integration of the Taurus missile is intended to provide the Swedish Air Force with enhanced long-range offensive capabilities, allowing for precise ground strikes at distances exceeding 500 kilometers. This development expands the Gripen's existing arsenal, which currently includes various bombs and missiles such as the RBS-15 and AGM-65 Maverick.

The Taurus KEPD 350 is a collaborative project between Germany and Sweden. While the integration process began in 2025, the system is expected to reach full operational capacity by the end of 2028.
