Sweden to experience unseasonably warm late-summer weather
Sweden is expected to experience an unseasonably warm period, described by meteorologists as an early ‘Indian summer’. A combination of a high-pressure system over Russia and a low-pressure system in the North Atlantic is expected to draw warm southern winds across Scandinavia.
Temperatures are forecast to reach nearly 20 degrees Celsius in southern Sweden, with some areas along the Götaland coast potentially hitting 22 degrees. The warmth is expected to be most prominent between Tuesday and Friday of next week. While southern and central regions will see the highest temperatures, northern Sweden is also expected to experience a warmer-than-normal start to October.
Meteorologists from SMHI and Klart note that while this provides a warm end to September, it may be a temporary wave before typical autumn storms and rain take over. The current atmospheric pattern resembles the weather patterns seen in October 2015.
