Swedish advocacy groups urge new government to prioritize animal welfare and nature

The organization is calling for increased resources for animal welfare inspections, expanded grazing requirements for cattle, and a national roadmap to replace animal testing with non-animal research methods. They emphasize that legislative enforcement must be proportional to the suffering caused by violations.

Simultaneously, WWF is urging the new administration to address critical environmental issues, noting that Sweden risks significant daily fines for failing to meet EU climate goals. WWF highlights the need to protect remaining old-growth forests, restore wetlands and grazing lands, and strengthen environmental laws. The organization points to public support for increased climate action and nature restoration as a mandate for the upcoming government.
