Swedish Air Force celebrates 100 years with major aviation event

The Swedish Air Force is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a major event, Flygdagarna, held at Malmen airbase near Linköping. The festivities, themed around the past, present, and future of aviation, are expected to draw up to 240,000 spectators over two days.

The event features a wide array of aircraft, including historical models such as the J29 Tunnan, J35 Draken, and AJS 37 Viggen, alongside modern technology like the JAS 39E Gripen and various drones. International aerial displays are also scheduled, including performances by the Italian Frecce Tricolore, the British Royal Air Force Red Arrows, and the Finnish Air Force Midnight Hawks.

In addition to flight demonstrations, the event includes a ground exhibition showcasing equipment from various military and civil authorities. Organizers have recommended public transport or cycling to avoid traffic congestion, providing free shuttle buses from Linköping city center to the airbase.
