Swedish banks raise mortgage rates as customer satisfaction varies
Swedish banks are adjusting mortgage rates following rising market interest rates. Several major institutions, including SBAB, Danske Bank, Nordea, and Swedbank, have recently increased their fixed mortgage rates by up to 0.25 percentage points. This trend is driven by rising long-term market rates in the US and Europe, with experts suggesting that the Riksbank may be forced to implement further rate hikes later this year.
In parallel, recent consumer surveys reveal a divide in banking satisfaction. According to Svenskt Kvalitetsindex (SKI), Sparbankerna lead in customer satisfaction among both private and corporate clients in Sweden, while Swedbank ranks lowest. In Finland, the Epsi rating indicates that Sparbanken and Aktia maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, particularly regarding personal service and expertise.
Data suggests that personal contact remains a critical factor for customer loyalty, as clients with direct personal banking relationships report significantly higher satisfaction levels than those relying solely on digital services.
