Swedish businesses call for growth-oriented policies and highlight export importance

Business leaders in Sweden are calling for policy reforms to support economic growth and employment. In Östergötland, 18 entrepreneurs representing 750 employees have issued a plea for conditions that encourage expansion. They warn that policies increasing costs or uncertainty—such as tax hikes or changes to working hours—could hinder investment and job creation, ultimately impacting public services like healthcare and defense.

In the Örebro region, a report from Svenskt Näringsliv highlights the critical role of exports, which account for approximately 25 percent of all jobs, totaling 37,000 positions. The region's exports of goods and services reached 79 billion SEK. The report notes that new free trade agreements with regions including India and Mercosur could significantly boost Swedish exports and GDP by 2035, provided that trade barriers continue to decrease.
