Swedish cities host winter light festivals

Various light festivals are scheduled across Sweden to provide activities during the dark winter months.

In Uppsala, the ‘Allt ljus på Uppsala’ festival will run from November 6 to 22. This year’s theme, ‘Courage. Patience.’, focuses on sustainability and the transitions required for a sustainable future. The event features 13 light installations created by Swedish and international designers, including a contribution from Cube of Art. The festival aims to stimulate local commerce by encouraging movement through the city center.

In Uddevalla, the ‘Uddevalla i ljus’ initiative will gather several winter events, beginning with the Christmas light inauguration on November 20. The program includes a ‘Light Walk’ through the city center, video projections on the City Hall facade telling local history, and New Year’s Eve fireworks.
