Swedish educational initiatives expand in Gothenburg and Laxå

Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen is expanding its educational support programs to three additional schools in Gothenburg: Skytteskolan, Brandströmska skolan, and Viljaskolan. The initiative aims to provide structured study support to middle school students to improve their chances of qualifying for upper secondary education. While Gothenburg has seen a slight increase in student qualification rates, significant disparities between schools remain, prompting the need for targeted interventions.

In Laxå, the municipality has allocated 900,000 SEK from its planning reserve to provide morning transportation for high school students. This measure follows the removal of several regional bus lines, which left students living outside urban areas without reliable access to schools. The municipality will operate two morning shuttle routes to Laxå railway station, allowing students to connect to trains heading toward schools in Örebro and Hallsberg. This specific solution is limited to morning trips and does not cover afternoon commutes.
