Swedish experts convene on medical coordination and AI in welfare

In Sweden, various professional gatherings are addressing critical challenges in public health, welfare, and crisis management.

In Gothenburg, the University of Gothenburg, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) are hosting a workshop for international experts. The event focuses on medical civil-military coordination (MED CMCoord) to develop a new digital training program. Participants include representatives from NATO, the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), and the Ministry of Defence, aiming to improve how national healthcare systems interact with international resources during complex crises.

Additionally, a series of meetings scheduled for late January in Stockholm will bring together leaders from the public sector, healthcare, and digitalization. The agenda focuses on transitioning artificial intelligence from pilot projects to practical applications in welfare and government operations. Key speakers include directors from the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Public Health Agency of Sweden, and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR), with discussions centered on strengthening preparedness and ensuring competence in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
