Swedish family businesses Ica Myran and Larssons Guld announce closures
Two long-standing family businesses in Sweden are closing their doors.
In Mörby, the Ica Myran grocery store is shutting down after nearly 50 years of operation. The owner, Anders Eriksson, noted that the closure follows a rent dispute. The business, which was originally established by his parents in Djursholm in 1977 before moving to Mörby, is currently holding a final sale.
In Köping, the jewelry retailer Larssons Guld is closing after 105 years. Siblings Lena and Calle Norberg, representing the third generation of the family business, announced that the store will cease operations after December. They stated the decision was not based on business performance but a desire to retire, spend time with grandchildren, and move away from the physical and security demands of the profession.
