Swedish firms lead EU in AI adoption, 35% using technology in 2025
New statistics from Statistics Sweden (SCB) show that 35 % of Swedish companies used at least one artificial‑intelligence (AI) technology in 2025, more than double the EU average of 20 %. The data place Sweden together with Belgium on the shared third‑place ranking among EU members and ahead of Denmark, Finland and other countries.
The strongest AI uptake is among larger firms with 250 or more employees, which have more resources to invest in AI tools. Adoption is highest in the Stockholm region and western Sweden, while northern parts show lower usage. The survey also notes gender patterns: male‑dominated firms employ generative AI more often than female‑dominated ones, but companies with a balanced workforce use AI the most overall.
