Swedish Government allocates 350,000 euros for Princess Victoria's 50th birthday

The Swedish government has confirmed a budget allocation of four million Swedish kronor, approximately 350,000 euros, to celebrate the 50th birthday of Crown Princess Victoria on July 14, 2027. The decision has sparked political debate and public criticism, particularly as the country operates under a provisional government following the general elections held in September.

Under current rules for interim budgets, the executive is generally restricted to essential operations and prohibited from introducing new spending items. However, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson defended the expenditure, describing the milestone as an event of "great public interest."

The funds are intended to cover an official reception on the island of Öland, as well as public activities and official visits by the heir to the throne to various counties to promote her role.
