Swedish healthcare initiatives focus on accessibility and prevention
In Sweden, regional and local authorities are implementing new initiatives to improve access to primary healthcare and social support.
Karlskoga Municipality has launched a collaboration with Baggängens health center to make support and counseling more accessible to residents and relatives. By placing municipal assistance officers directly at the health center, the initiative aims to lower the threshold for seeking help. Assistance officers will be available for drop-in sessions every Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00, offering guidance on care, social services, and application processes. This move is part of a transition toward more preventive social services.
Separately, Region Stockholm has launched a new marketing campaign titled ‘Vi tar hand om dig som tar hand om annat’ (We take care of you who take care of others). Developed in partnership with Differ Agency, the campaign aims to remind busy urban residents to register with region-driven health centers. The campaign uses relatable imagery, such as tending to houseplants or sourdough starters, to highlight how individuals often prioritize external tasks over their own health.
