Swedish holiday flights drop in price despite global fuel cost surge

Despite a sharp rise in jet‑fuel costs linked to the Middle‑East conflict, average ticket prices from Swedish airports to several popular European destinations have fallen compared with last year. According to Momondo, flights to Lisbon, London, Rome and Paris are now cheaper than in 2025, and fares to Tirana in Albania are 33 % lower.

The trend is not uniform: prices to Copenhagen have risen 57 % and to Tallinn 35 % over the same period, while trans‑Atlantic fares continue to increase. IATA’s director warned that fuel cost pressures could become existential for airlines, but the Swedish market shows a nuanced picture with some routes benefitting from lower demand elsewhere and competitive pricing.
