Swedish journalist investigated in Lebanese murder case

A prominent Swedish crime journalist, Joakim Palmkvist, is reportedly under investigation in Lebanon for suspected involvement in a murder case. Lebanese media reports suggest Palmkvist is being investigated alongside Rawa Majid, leader of the Foxtrot gang, and two other men for involvement in a criminal conspiracy.

The investigation concerns the death of 26-year-old Yaser Abdelaziz, also known as ‘Bentley’. Abdelaziz, a Swedish man who was internationally wanted in Sweden for a double murder, was shot by three masked men in Aramoun, south of Beirut, on October 18, 2025. He died in a hospital in December following complications from his injuries.

According to reports, chat logs indicate that a gang member contacted the journalist to help verify the death of the wanted individual, including sharing a photo of a grave. Palmkvist has denied any wrongdoing, stating that his contacts with criminal figures are strictly for journalistic purposes and that he was merely attempting to verify information regarding a death.
