Swedish labor market shows signs of recovery in construction sector
The Swedish labor market is showing signs of recovery, particularly within practical and manual labor sectors. According to data from the job site Jobbsafari, job advertisements increased by 1.7 percent in September compared to the same month last year.
The construction and civil engineering sector has seen the most significant growth, with a 22 percent increase in job postings. Additionally, the number of employers advertising positions rose by 3.8 percent overall, driven by a 15.8 percent surge in the construction sector.
Anita Rae, labor market manager at Jobbsafari, noted that this trend suggests a stabilization and a potential end to the long decline observed since April 2026. While white-collar roles remain slower, the service and hospitality industry also showed strength, with nearly 15 percent more advertisements than in September of the previous year.
