Swedish Migration Agency limits citizenship civics test applications to proven language speakers

The Swedish Migration Agency has sent a letter to individuals invited to take the new citizenship civics test, warning that only applicants who can already demonstrate sufficient Swedish language proficiency should register. Proof must be shown by completing the Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) course, passing a Swedish as a Second Language exam, or succeeding on the TISUS test. The first civics exam is scheduled for 15 August at the Stockholmsmässan conference centre in Älvsjö, with roughly 1,000 places already allocated.

Among six people contacted by The Local who received invitations, none could yet prove the required language level. Four decided not to apply, while two ignored the advice and registered successfully. In parallel, Sweden’s Higher Education Council posted example questions for the upcoming test, providing prospective candidates with a preview of the exam content.
