The Swedish Armed Forces have requested the government to expropriate a strategic property located near the Muskö Naval Base in the Stockholm archipelago. The military identifies the site as a critical security vulnerability, noting it is the only location at one of the base's main entrances not currently under military control.

The property, which includes a building exceeding 600 square meters on a point with a clear view of the naval base, is reportedly owned by Russian businessman Stanislav Aleshchenko, though it is formally registered to his wife, Tatiana Sazonova. Swedish authorities have expressed concerns regarding the ownership and the potential for the site to be used for intelligence gathering or tactical advantage.

Military officials, including Chief of the Defence Staff Carl-Johan Edström, stated that the development of Russian drone warfare has fundamentally changed the threat landscape. The expropriation is intended to strengthen defenses against both aerial and sea-going drones. Edström described the current security environment as the most serious since the end of World War II.
