Swedish municipalities host community preparedness events
Swedish municipalities Järfälla and Karlskrona are hosting community events as part of the national Preparedness Week (Beredskapsveckan). The initiative, led by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, aims to strengthen citizen resilience and home preparedness in response to the current global security situation.
In Järfälla, an event in Jakobsberg on September 26 will feature guided tours of bomb shelters, demonstrations of cooking without electricity, and information from various voluntary defense organizations. In Karlskrona, an event on September 23 at Kungsmarksplan will offer residents opportunities to practice first aid, test emergency food, access mobile water tanks, and visit temporary shelters.
These annual activities are designed to educate the public on essential survival skills, such as alternative communication methods, fire safety, and emergency packing, to ensure communities are better equipped for potential crises.
