Swedish municipalities report varying economic outcomes

Municipalities in Sweden are reporting different financial and strategic developments in their 2026 interim reports.

In Mark Municipality, the municipal board approved the interim report which forecasts an operating budget deficit of 5.5 million SEK. The municipal director has been tasked with developing measures to maintain the budget. Other strategic decisions include the establishment of a new digitalization plan and a planned feasibility study on biogas in collaboration with the agricultural sector.

Conversely, Tidaholm Municipality reported positive developments in its interim report for the first eight months of 2026. The municipality has met its financial goals, with a forecast showing results better than budgeted. Tidaholm also noted a decrease in sick leave and ongoing efforts to strengthen its employer brand to attract and retain staff.
