Swedish municipalities Rättvik and Lomma plan elderly‑care improvements

In Rättvik, local leaders and all parties on the municipal council were criticized for offering no concrete ideas to improve services for an increasingly ageing population. The closure of the Springkällan restaurant, a popular meeting place for seniors, highlighted concerns about isolation and a lack of proactive planning.

In Lomma, the governing coalition of the Moderate, Centre and Christian Democratic parties announced a staffing boost for elderly care, converting part‑time positions to full‑time roles and creating a personnel pool to support both home care and nursing homes. Ten additional places will be added to the Jonasgården facility this August, and a new nursing‑home complex is slated for completion around 2029‑30. Funding is expected to come from the municipal budget, with costs estimated at 5‑7 million kronor.
