Swedish parties show split on Israel-Palestine policy in new survey

A survey conducted by six organizations reveals that a majority of Swedish parliamentary parties support stronger measures against the Israeli government regarding alleged violations of international law in Palestine.

While there is broad consensus among responding parties on fundamental principles—such as Sweden's obligation to enforce International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants and support for EU-targeted sanctions—significant divisions remain. Four parties (Center, Left, Green, and Social Democrats) support a national ban on trade with illegal settlements, the suspension of the EU-Israel association agreement, a comprehensive review of Swedish-Israeli relations, and the restoration of funding to UNRWA.

Disagreements are most pronounced regarding arms trade and imports to Israel. The survey suggests that the outcome of future Swedish elections will be decisive for the nation's direction regarding Israel-Palestine policy.
