Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson denounces SD leader's 'quisling' accusations

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson condemned remarks by Sweden Democrats MP Richard Jomshof, who on X called Aftonbladet political editor Anders Lindberg and former prime minister Magdalena Andersson "quisling" – a term for a traitor collaborating with an occupying force. Kristersson called the language indecent and unacceptable, urging political debate to stay focused on issues rather than personal attacks.

He also criticised the Left Party after a letter from its MP Ilona Szatmári Waldau praised a Palestinian prisoner convicted of organizing terror attacks against Israel, describing it as part of a pattern of terror‑romanticism and antisemitism. In a separate interview, Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson accused the Social Democrats of “greasing down” election campaigns and described the Moderates as fearful, while defending his own party’s stance.

The exchange highlights rising tensions among Sweden’s major parties ahead of the 2026 election cycle.
