Swedish Police to increase presence in Leksand and Rättvik

The Swedish Police Authority has announced plans to increase police presence in the Dalarna municipalities of Leksand and Rättvik through the introduction of community police officers. The new officers are expected to be active in the local community starting this autumn.

This move follows years of criticism from citizens and local municipalities regarding sporadic police presence in the region south of Siljan. The initiative is being viewed as a revival of the community policing reform originally launched in the early 1990s, which aimed to decentralize resources and bring officers closer to rural and suburban residents.
