Swedish political debate intensifies over parental leave quotas

In Sweden, political debates are intensifying regarding parental leave policies and family flexibility. The Christian Democrats (KD) are advocating for the removal of all quotas in parental leave to allow families more autonomy in how they distribute days. Additionally, the party proposes a gradual six-month extension of the parental insurance period.

In contrast, the Red-Green coalition—comprising the Social Democrats, the Left Party, and the Green Party—is pushing to increase existing quotas. Critics of the coalition's stance argue that such measures increase administrative complexity for families and entrepreneurs.
