Swedish political leaders debate economy and taxation

During a Swedish Radio party leader debate, political leaders clashed over the state of the national economy and taxation. Moderate Party leader Ulf Kristersson accused Social Democrat leader Magdalena Andersson of painting a bleak picture of the Swedish economy, while Andersson highlighted rising unemployment and the national deficit.

Sweden Democrat leader Jimmie Åkesson supported Kristersson, arguing that the economy is performing better than the opposition describes. Meanwhile, Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar criticized the government's fiscal policy, citing severe criticism from the Fiscal Policy Council. Christian Democrat leader Ebba Busch also addressed economic concerns, specifically regarding fuel costs.

The debate also touched upon the implications of marginal taxes. Discussions included arguments against increasing marginal tax rates, with concerns that high taxation serves as a disincentive for extra work and professional development.
