Swedish politicians face scrutiny over meetings with Palestinian representatives
Swedish political parties are facing scrutiny following reports of meetings with Palestinian representatives who have expressed antisemitic views.
According to reports, the Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) hosted Taysir Nasrallah and Mohammed al-Lahham, representatives from Fatah’s Revolutionary Council, at the Riksdag last year. The meeting included party leader Nooshi Dadgostar and secretary Maria Forsberg. Nasrallah had previously made controversial statements regarding Jewish people following clashes involving Maccabi Tel Aviv in Amsterdam.
Additionally, Social Democratic Member of Parliament Johan Büser participated in a meeting with Palestinian representatives where the Swedish election was reportedly discussed, according to Palestinian news reporting. The involvement of Swedish politicians in discussions regarding domestic elections with foreign representatives has drawn criticism from political opponents.
