Swedish sailors compete in ILCA 7 World Championships in Dublin
Swedish sailors concluded their participation in the ILCA 7 World Championships held in Dublin, Ireland, without reaching the medal rounds. The four Swedish competitors included Erik Norlén, Rasmus Granzin, Emil Bengtson, and Wilhelm Kark.
Erik Norlén and Rasmus Granzin, both members of the Swedish development team, competed in their first senior World Championship. Out of 140 sailors, Norlén finished in 44th place and Granzin in 67th. Emil Bengtson finished 35th, while Wilhelm Kark placed 77th.
National team coach Dayne Sharp noted that the week was characterized by light winds and significant waves, requiring precise starts and speed on both upwind and downwind legs. Sharp expressed optimism regarding the development potential of the younger sailors, particularly Norlén. Norlén, 21, described the event as a highly educational experience and stated his sights are set on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
