Swedish Skinome sunscreen praised as preservative‑free option amid dermatologist warning on Nivea

Swedish brand Skinome has introduced its Sun Emulsion line, offering SPF 50+ sunscreen for body and face that is free of preservatives and fragrance and designed to protect the skin microbiome. The products, marketed in France, have been highlighted for family use, especially for children, and were named “Best sunscreen for kids” by an independent beauty platform.

Dermatologist Dr. Isabelle Gallay warned that the classic blue Nivea cream, widely available in supermarkets, is unsuitable for treating sunburn because it contains multiple ingredients—preservatives, fragrances and limonene—that can irritate damaged skin and increase allergy risk. She recommends using simple, preservative‑free moisturisers with ceramides to restore the skin barrier after sun exposure.
