Wilma Svenson, a 22‑year‑old sprinter from Hultsfred, won her first senior Swedish championship gold in the 200 m with a personal best of 23.05 seconds and also took silver in the 100 m. Following the national championships, she was named Sweden’s sole representative in the 200 m for the upcoming European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. National team coach Kajsa Bergqvist announced the selection, noting that the Swedish squad will comprise 65 athletes – the largest team in recent history. Svenson plans to travel to England on 10 August, with the 200 m competition beginning on 12 August, and has set a personal goal of reaching the semifinals.

The selection marks Svenson’s first individual appearance at a major senior international meet, after previously competing only in relay events at European team championships. She will compete for IFK Växjö and aims to build on her recent domestic successes.
