Swedish Stock Market Surges to Record Levels as Companies Post Strong Earnings
Despite regional geopolitical tension, including bombings and the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, Sweden's OMXS30 index has risen more than 11 % since the start of the year. Analysts attribute the resilience to better‑than‑expected corporate profit growth, which they say offset the market‑disruptive potential of the Hormuz incident.
In the most recent week the exchange set new all‑time highs: the OMXSPI reached 1 123 points and the OMXS30 closed at 3 247, both record levels. Thirteen listed companies recorded all‑time high prices, led by industrial and financial firms such as Alfa Laval, Sandvik, SKF, Swedbank and Nordea. Strong earnings, large orders and strategic moves—like Sandvik’s mining contract and SKF’s robot‑component venture—were cited as key drivers. Analysts forecast that continued earnings growth, a possible end to the Hormuz blockage, and easing monetary policy could keep the market on an upward trajectory through the second half of the year.
