Swedish teenager faces trial in Denmark for attempted murder

A 16-year-old Swedish boy is facing trial in Lyngby District Court, north of Copenhagen, for attempted murder in Denmark. If convicted, he could become the youngest person in the country to be sentenced for ‘crime as a service’.

The defendant, who was 15 years old when he traveled from central Sweden to Denmark in June 2025, stated in court that he accepted the contract killing mission as a way to escape his life in Sweden. He had previously run away from home after being suspended from school to avoid being placed in a residential care facility.

According to the prosecution, the teenager traveled to Denmark, secured accommodation, and received a weapon at an apartment before being arrested by Danish police. Under Danish law, an individual can be convicted of attempted murder if it is proven that the murder plan was initiated, even if no shots were fired.
