Swedish travelers face reduced purchasing power abroad

Swedish travelers are facing a significant decline in purchasing power at popular international destinations due to rising prices and a weakened Swedish krona. According to data from Länsförsäkringar, purchasing power has decreased across all twelve popular destinations analyzed for the autumn break.

The most substantial decline was observed in Turkey, where purchasing power dropped by 12.8 percent. Despite the Swedish krona strengthening against the Turkish lira, local price increases of nearly 30 percent offset the currency advantage. Egypt followed with a 9.8 percent decrease, and Dubai saw an 8.5 percent decline.

Other destinations experiencing notable decreases include the USA (-7.3 percent), Cyprus (-6.9 percent), Greece (-6.8 percent), and Spain (-6.7 percent). The smallest declines were recorded in Cape Verde, France, and Portugal, with reductions ranging between 4.6 and 5.5 percent.
