Swedish woman indicted for aiding organized drug crime and money laundering

A woman in her 30s has been indicted in Sweden for aiding and abetting extremely serious drug crimes, as well as multiple counts of money laundering and professional money laundering. The investigation was the result of long-term international cooperation involving authorities in Serbia, Spain, France, and Denmark.

The case originated from a Danish police raid last August, which uncovered 77 kg of cocaine on a farm. Following the Danish court proceedings, the investigation shifted to Sweden after evidence suggested a woman residing in Sweden acted as an enabler for the organized crime group. Prosecutors allege she assisted a male suspect by managing flight bookings and payments, lending her credit card, and sourcing accommodation.

In addition to the narcotics charges, the woman is suspected of using various schemes to launder large sums of money. The Swedish Prosecution Authority worked alongside the Swedish Economic Crime Authority, the Swedish Customs Service, and Eurojust to map the financial aspects of the criminal operations.
