Sweet potato specialty shops and events highlighted in Japan

Various sweet potato-themed offerings are being highlighted across the Tokyo and Saitama regions of Japan. In Shinagawa, Tokyo, Unagiimo Store Togoshi Ginza offers seasonal desserts, including a Mont Blanc soft serve made from specialized ‘Unagiimo’ sweet potatoes.

In the Kawagoe area, Kawagoe Pudding recently hosted a popular sweet potato harvesting event in Miyoshi Town, which included roasted sweet potatoes and pudding as souvenirs. The event, held at Edoya Kotoen, reached capacity quickly. The region, known for its ‘Tomi no Kawagoe Imo’ brand, maintains a historical connection to sweet potato cultivation dating back to the Edo period. Additionally, Kawagoe Pudding has introduced new menu items such as roasted sweet potato brûlée pudding at its second location.
