SWEG bus operations face three-day warning strike

The Verdi union has called for a three-day warning strike at SWEG bus operations, scheduled from Wednesday, September 30, to Friday, October 2. The strikes will affect multiple locations, including Lahr, Offenburg, Kehl, and Sinsheim, with significant disruptions to bus services expected.

The labor action is part of ongoing collective bargaining disputes. Workers are demanding protection against operational redundancies resulting from upcoming contract re-tenders. Verdi representatives stated that the strikes are necessary to bring the state-owned company to the negotiating table, following previous strikes that they claim yielded no response from management.

SWEG management has criticized the strike calls as disproportionate and irresponsible, arguing that the union is introducing unnecessary tension into the negotiations.
