Swerve Strickland doubts WWE and AEW crossover event will occur
Professional wrestler Swerve Strickland believes a cross-promotional event between WWE and AEW is unlikely to happen during his lifetime. In an interview with Billboard, the former AEW World Champion cited corporate control and marketing interests as the primary obstacles.
Strickland explained that both companies prioritize protecting their top talent and brand prestige. He compared the situation to the NFL, noting that WWE must protect its stars, such as Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Gunther, to maintain their market value. He suggested that the difficulty lies in determining who holds the leverage and who would be permitted to win or lose in such high-stakes matchups.
While Strickland expressed a desire for generational matches involving talents like Seth Rollins and Will Ospreay, he concluded that the need to protect individual characters and commercial interests makes a joint event improbable.
