A previously recorded video of a SWIFT executive resurfaced, in which the executive detailed the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication's collaboration with blockchain software firm R3. The partnership integrates R3's Corda Settler application with SWIFT's Global Payments Innovation (gpi) service via APIs, enabling blockchain‑based environments to access SWIFT's cross‑border payment capabilities.

Corda Settler was originally built to settle obligations using various payment methods, with XRP being the first cryptocurrency supported on the platform. While the video linked the collaboration to XRP, SWIFT clarified that the aim was to improve payment speed, reduce friction, and increase transparency, not to adopt XRP as a settlement currency for its network.
