Swimmer Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên returns to professional competition

Renowned Vietnamese swimmer Nguyễn Thị Ánh Viên is making a surprise return to professional competition after four years of retirement. She is scheduled to compete in the swimming and diving tournament held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 29 to October 2, which serves as a precursor to the 10th National Sports Festival in 2026.

Ánh Viên will compete representing her longtime affiliate, the Military Sports Delegation. Since retiring from high-level competition in late 2022, she has focused on community sports activities and swimming instruction at her own facility in Ho Chi Minh City. Her return is expected to draw significant interest and bolster the medal prospects for the Military team, which has historically relied on her performance to lead the overall medal standings.
