Swimmer Sara Puklavec to attempt 20km open-water swim in Croatia

Sara Puklavec, a 19-year-old swimmer from Prelog, is preparing for a major open-water swimming challenge titled ‘From Zlatni Rat to Faros’. The project involves swimming over 20 kilometers of open sea from Zlatni Rat on the island of Brač to Stari Grad on Hvar.

Puklavec, a European championship bronze medalist in ice swimming, previously swam 6.5 kilometers across the Bosphorus. For this upcoming attempt, she intends to complete the distance without physical assistance from a boat, noting that while she may stop briefly to eat, she will have no physical contact with the vessel during the swim.

Scheduled to begin on September 10, the athlete has been undergoing daily endurance and strength training to prepare for the distance, which she estimates could reach 26-27 kilometers. She emphasized the importance of mental preparation and favorable sea conditions for the success of the endeavor.
