Swimmers Beau Matthews and Filip Nowacki named for 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Australian para‑swimmer Beau Matthews was confirmed on the Australian Commonwealth Games team for Glasgow 2026. The New South Wales Institute of Sport athlete, a top‑ranked SB9 breaststroker, has amassed 17 medals in 2025 and holds multiple age records. He will compete as the highest‑ranked Commonwealth athlete in the men's 100 m breaststroke SB9 event.

Eighteen‑year‑old Filip Nowacki, a world junior champion and British 200 m breaststroke title‑holder, will lead a 21‑member Jersey squad to the Glasgow Games. Nowacki, the first British swimmer to break the one‑minute barrier in all four strokes, aims to become Jersey’s first Commonwealth Games medallist since 1990. The team also includes athletes in athletics, judo, and lawn bowls, marking Jersey’s largest ever Commonwealth delegation.

Both swimmers view their selections as major milestones and look forward to competing on the international stage in Glasgow later this summer.
