Swimming bans imposed on 163 Polish coastal beaches

Authorities have barred swimming at 163 beaches along Poland's Baltic coast due to unsafe conditions. High waves, strong winds and dangerous currents prompted closures on many sites, while water quality issues forced additional restrictions. In the town of Stepnica on the Szczecin Lagoon, a bloom of cyanobacteria made the water unsuitable for bathing. On Lake Junno near Kamienice Królewska, tests detected enterococci bacteria, leading officials to prohibit entry.

The bans cover popular resorts such as Sarbinowo, Chłopy, Mielno, Dąbki, Jarosławiec, Kołobrzeg, Darłowo, Pobierowo, Ustka, Rowy, Jastarnia and Władysławowo, among others. The General Sanitary Inspectorate’s Beach Service continuously updates the status of each location, advising the public to follow beach signage and lifeguard instructions.

Swimmers are urged to verify current conditions before entering the water, as the situation can change throughout the day.
