Swiss and Canadian curling teams win Grand Slam titles in Victoria

At the Grand Slam of Curling’s Co-op Invitational held in Victoria, Canada, Swiss and Canadian teams secured major victories in the men’s and women’s divisions.

In the men’s final, the world number one Swiss team led by Yannick Schwaller defeated Norway’s Magnus Ramsfjell 7-3. The Swiss squad, consisting of Schwaller, Benoît Schwarz-van Berkel, Sven Michel, and Pablo Lachat-Couchepin, secured the win following a decisive four-point steal in the third end. This marks Schwaller’s second Grand Slam title and earned the team 38,000 Canadian dollars.

In the women’s division, Canada’s Team Einarson—comprising Kerri Einarson, Jocelyn Peterman, Karlee Burgess, and Shannon Birchard—won the tournament by defeating South Korea’s Team Kang 6-3 in the final. While top-ranked Team Homan exited during the group stage, Team Einarson advanced through the semi-finals after defeating another South Korean squad, Team Gim.
