Swiss Army officer Nirwan Obrecht leads 70 people at age 20
Nirwan Obrecht, a 20-year-old from Zurich, has risen to the rank of lieutenant in the Swiss Army, leading more than 70 people. Originally intending to serve only as a soldier, Obrecht accepted opportunities to advance, progressing from sergeant to officer.
During his service, Obrecht and his unit supported Grenadiers during exercises, assisted at the Ski World Cup, and worked alongside police during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Obrecht emphasizes that his leadership style focuses on empathy, accessibility, and authenticity rather than strict authoritarianism, believing that respect is earned through leading by example.
