Swiss Artist Andreas Lüthi Receives Honorary Citizenship from Orsara di Puglia
Swiss painter‑performer Andreas Lüthi, 65, was awarded the honorary citizenship of Orsara di Puglia on 3 August 2024. The ceremony was held in the conference hall of Palazzo De Gregorio, where Mayor Mario Simonelli presented the honour.
Lüthi founded the MACAL – Museo di Arte Contemporanea, converting the town’s former prison into a contemporary art museum in 2024. The museum showcases his own works alongside pieces by international artists and has become a key cultural attraction for the community. Mayor Simonelli said, “We are happy and honored to confer the honorary citizenship to Andreas Lüthi; his project has become a valuable cultural driver for Orsara.”
The municipality also released the programme for the “Estate Orsarese”, a summer calendar of cultural, musical, theatrical, sporting and gastronomic events running from late July to early September.
